Other Vessel Surveys & Services Offered

Marine surveying is very wide ranging in scope and so in addition to yacht pre-purchase surveys etc, I can also offer the following services:

  • Condition surveys of commercial craft, such as general purpose barges and work boats including MCA coding (MGN 280) for both yachts and commercial vessels. All MCA coding work is undertaken by my colleague with extensive experience in this field, in which he is regularly abroad as well as local with this important service for yacht owners with vessel's up to 24m in length. For larger vessels (LY3 Large Yacht Code), please get in touch for details.

  • Damage surveys of hull, structure, systems and machinery.

  • Pre-delivery inspections for new yachts as part of a vessel handover from the chosen manufacturer to the client. This can be undertaken as either a one off process at the end of build (to include sea trials) or when each stage payment is due. This service is also available for non new vessels being rebuilt / restored.

  • Valuation surveys for finance houses or individuals when the value of a vessel is required, such as for insurance or finance purposes. This is not a condition survey as such, but rather an assessment of the overall condition of the vessel including all up to date class and regulatory requirements. A list of any recommendations will be given in the final report to ensure the vessel is kept up to the required condition as part of any finance / insurance agreement.

  • Historic vessel surveying. After many years of experience dealing with many notable historic ships, I can offer various services such as a pre-purchase general inspection, creating a 'first aid package' following a purchase all the way through to undertaking a project management role as part of a vessel's restoration. Whatever your requirement, I will be able to assist you.
